Scott Cope - (Staff) Pastor

Scott grew up in the suburbs of Boston, in the town of Medfield. Though raised in a Christian home, he never made faith in Christ his own. Trust in Christ remained mere intellectual assent. While at the George Washington University, God opened Scott’s eyes to the beauty and work of Christ in the gospel. Like never before, he knew his sinfulness and need for a savior. More than that, he knew Christ’s sufficiency as Savior.

Upon completing his Bachelors in Philosophy, he commissioned as a Navy chaplain candidate and enrolled in graduate school at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He completed his Masters of Divinity in 2018.  And while serving at various churches, Scott consistently felt the call to minister back in New England. In 2019, the Copes began to investigate planting a church in Bedford and in August 2020, amid the global pandemic, they returned to greater Boston. Even before moving to Bedford in 2022, they immediately fell in love with the colonial architecture and small-town charm that made it feel like home.

Scott and Kate got married in 2014 and have been blessed with three children. He enjoys coffee, books, woodworking, and all things New England (especially the sports!).

Mark Butman - (Lay) Pastor

For years, Mark and his wife contemplated joining a church plant. Having once considered opportunities in Britain, they were immediately intrigued by the prospect of a church plant in New England. In 2022, they were sent out from Del Ray Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA to join Trinity and support the work.

A self-professed foodie, Mark loves exploring Boston’s neighborhoods and sampling all things local. Residing in Billerica, Mark works on Hanscom AFB.

Andrew Gates - Pastoral Assistant

Andrew professed faith in Christ from a young age, but began to aspire to pastoral ministry in high school after reading Desiring God by John Piper. This led him to attend Cedarville University where he received his Bachelors in Biblical Studies and Masters of Divinity. Andrew was introduced to Trinity while participating in the Pastoral Internship at Del Ray Baptist Church (Alexandria, VA), where Scott and Mark previously served.

Andrew and Lindsey got married in 2024. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends, going to Chick-fil-A, reading books by Martin Luther, and playing or watching sports.

Andrew assists the pastors in various roles such as teaching, discipling and counseling, evangelism, and administration.
